Moving From One Phase To The Next

Summer Solstice, Inter-Being, and Solitude

One year ago on this day, four friends existed together on the longest day of the year after celebrating all through the shortest night of the year. They had moved through the night-time revelers as one, raised their voices to join others to the beating of drums, and wandered amongst the standing stones of Stonehenge, together. They witnessed the sun rise over mist-covered fields with the ten thousand or so other people who had all gathered at this time in this space for solstice.

The Summer Solstice is believed to represent abundance, expansion and new beginnings, as well as renewal, growth, and connection to the natural world.

Yesterday afternoon and evening, electrical signals passed down axons, their tips released chemicals to neurotransmitters into the synapses, as they remembered and reminisced of one year later by sending electrical signals through the space to their hand-held communication devices. The bonds of friendship renewed, The actions of Just Stop Oil at Stonehenge for climate awareness, the prevalance of single-use plastics, capitalism and democracy, were all discussed. Plans were made for a near-future reunion.

What were you doing, where were you, and who were you with, on this day?

Thoughts in Time of Moments in Space

So far, most of this year has been dedicated to self-care. That care has taken the form of reading many books, spending nearly no time on social media, being silent and still, visits from old friends from other continents and islands, working on several projects, including this new sculpture-in-process here in this detail shot.

Heartwork

As I mentioned earlier, the solstice is about new beginnings, expansion and growth. My measure of all three at this moment seem to be embodied in the new artworks, this first blog post and my new website.

I am feeling very content with this new site. I have been wanting to make many changes in how I show and share my artworks. I have changed nearly everything - domain name, website builder, less words on the pages (relegating them to this diary entry). A friend who I first spoke to over a year ago about wanting to make these significant changes gave me the nicest compliment after I sent her the site link, "It was sooooo worth it! It's light years ahead of it's humble beginnings! And most importantly, it finally shows YOU."

A friend has been telling me for ages to write a book, a memoir, of all my wild past-life experiences. Maybe I'll write a book about my life when I'm older, maybe around 80 (if I am blessed to live that long). I've decided to keep this diary instead.
